New Epping Leisure Centre On Target To Open in 2025

Early construction work on the new Epping Leisure Centre is going "very well" with the new £33.1m facility expected to open at the end of 2025, a council officer has said.

Council officer Amelia Hoke, who gave an update on the project to Tuesday's place scrutiny committee, said current work on the Bakers Lane site included excavations for the swimming pool area.

She told the meeting: "Builidng a new leisure centre is an exciting time for a local authority and we are pleased to report we are in the early stages of construction at the moment."

She said construction company Pellikaan, which also built the Waltham Abbey Leisure Centre on Ninefields, had met with neighbours and was providing newsletters to provide updates on the project.

She added: "It is positive that residents are supportive and do recognise the benefits these facilities will bring to the community.

"The new facility is expected to open at the end of 2025 and it will replace the existing Epping Sports Centre in Hemnall Street once the new centre opens."
