At 11.15 Today, Charles Geddes, our long time Planning Officer was Interviewed on Ben Fryer's morning show on BBC Radio Essex. We have to say that Charles did our town proud with a potted history of Epping dating back to Epping Market's Royal Charter in the 13th century. It was almost as if he had been there as a child (Only joking Charles!!).

The main purpose of the interview was to discuss the proposed butchery of one of our Great Redwood Trees that has occupied this land for at least 180 years. We (The Epping Society) started a petition which we will be putting to the council on Wednesday (23rd Oct) when the proposed destruction of this beloved tree comes up for discussion with the Council.

Our online petition which we only started a week ago has attracted an amazing 1,124 signatures as of Monday evening and it is not to late to add your name to it simply by clicking the button here.

Meanwhile we would like to extent our gratitude to all those who have signed and we will see if the council listen to the people they are elected to represent.

You can listen to the whole interview below. The story was covered by other programmes on BBC Essex throughout the day and we have also included a clip from a caller to Ben's programme.
